Abstract

Aquifer recharge is water that moves from the unsaturated zone into the saturated zone. It might be more precisely called “aquifer-system” or “saturated-zone” recharge. Recharge varies considerably with time and location. Quantitative estimation of recharge rate contributes to the understanding of large-scale hydrologic processes.
