Abstract

Developing large-scale software systems is difficult. Managing the development of large-scale software systems is also difficult. Getting someone else to develop and manage a large-scale software system that does what you want it to do for a price that you are willing to pay can involve an enormous set of challenges. This entry focuses on the critical factors influencing the success of software acquisition projects and provides key recommendations to improve the probability of success.
