Abstract

Business success means delivering the right solutions at the right time to the right markets. Requirements Engineering (RE) is the discipline within systems and software engineering that bridges the entire life cycle and thus determines success or failure of a product or project. This encyclopedia entry describes the discipline of RE. Starting with a framework of RE, it indicates the solutions available to practically implement this framework. The entry underlines the basic concepts and practices of RE with broad industrial experiences and also summarizes current trends in RE.
