Abstract

A Software Engineering Process encompasses the definition, implementation, assessment, measurement, management, change, and improvement of life cycle processes. A life cycle begins with the decision to develop a software product and ends when the software is no longer available for use. A life cycle model is a framework for processes, where a process represents activities, tools, methods, and practices. Following the Software Engineering Process Knowledge Area (KA) in the Guide to the Software Engineering Body of Knowledge (SWEBOK), the focus is on these subareas:
