Abstract

Software maintainers demand deep technical knowledge, such as application domain, task domain, programming skills, organizational policies, software engineering processes. They also need to apply managerial methods to improve planning and controlling of their projects. Software maintenance is a risky activity in the software engineering context. In fact, many problems occurring in these kinds of projects arise from faulty or inexistent risk management. Although it is considered an important subject, risk management applied to software maintenance is still in its early maturity stage and numerous questions need to be answered. This entry brings together some contributions, mainly about the application of the taxonomy technique to improve risk identification.
