ABSTRACT
Handwriting and the analysis of questioned documents have had a contentious legal history. Expert comparisons of handwriting in a genuinely written document with handwriting in a possible forged document have been treated in various ways in the courts of law, from banning the expert evidence to admitting it without question. This chapter describes statistical methods for comparing handwriting in questioned documents.
