ABSTRACT
The adult brain contains over 100 billion neurons, each of which connects to thousands of neuronal partners (Garner et al., 2002). Understanding how this large number of cells interacts to produce a complex organism behavior is an intellectual challenge of the highest order. The neuronal dendritic arbor is optimized to receive a large number of information through inputs from neurons that can be located from micrometers to several centimeters away.
