ABSTRACT

Biomarkers are becoming an indispensable addition to clinical development. As low hanging fruits have been picked, development of new drugs requires substantial knowledge on disease biology and pharmacology. Modern biotechnologies have brought unprecedented opportunities for biomarker discovery and applying the knowledge of biomarkers to guide clinical trials. In this section, we give an overview of the omics technologies used for biomarker research. Statistical considerations related to biomarker discovery are also discussed.
