In this chapter, we discuss the graphene potential for the loading of drugs by hydrophobic interactions and π–π stacking, as well as bio-functionalizations through covalent and non-covalent modifications, owing to the availability of a large surface area (2,600 m2/g) allowing for a high density of the latter. We review in vivo studies on the specificity of graphene that have recently confirmed its potential for the replacement and implementation of materials currently used for bio-sensors and drug delivery.
