We are now entering into the era in which nano-materials and nano-products are created. This result is obtained from the coupling of classical chemistry, physics, and biology to form a new field of nanotechnology. Nanotechnology is related with the fabrication and use of devices that are so small that they have to be measured in nanometer (a billionth of a meter). At such a small scale the individual characteristics of molecules and atoms in the material become more important than the material’s bulk properties, and thus new concepts need to be used. The theme of the field is “novel performance through nanotechnology”. In 1959 Richard Feynman proposed the fundamental concept of atomically precise fabrication: using nanoscale mechanical devices to build atomically precise structures by manipulating matter at the atomic level.
