ABSTRACT
This chapter addresses the environmental boundary conditions that drive building simulation models. The qualitative short- and long-term behavior of weather data is described. Practical representation of this information in hourly weather files and typical weather years is covered. The extensive role of modeled data is emphasized. Important trends caused by urbanization and climate change are considered.
