Abstract

Reclamation is considered one of the fastest growing land use types in coastal areas. Reclamation has caused degradation and loss of coastal natural wetlands and other critical habitats. Remote sensing technologies have been among the most effective approach to monitor the status of coastal areas as well as the shoreline dynamics. This article employed Landsat and other historical data to reveal spatiotemporal patterns and trends of coastal wetlands and reclamation in the Yangtze Estuary from 1960s to 2015. The article also provided insights about the driving factors and impacts of costal wetland change of the Yangtze Estuary.
