ABSTRACT
Reindeer and caribou are popular cervids in zoos, particularly those in northern latitudes. Within the Species 360 (formerly International Species Inventory System) database, there are approximately 500 Rangifer spp. in 136 zoological institutions, comprising American woodland caribou, reindeer, tundra reindeer, Eurasia tundra reindeer and European forest reindeer.
