Abstract

The fast pace of industrialization toward achieving economic development has had a lasting, and detrimental, impact on the environment. Environmental damage has created a danger to environmental health and caused ecosystem vitality. The crusade for safeguarding the environment with the self-doctrine of sustainable development has become one of the biggest challenges and most important targets today. This burning issue became the motivation to undertake this study. The study aims to explore innovative green practices and identify the impact of green practices on environmental performance. Exploratory research design is used to get insights into the EPI framework. As per EPI 2020, the top five countries, namely Denmark, Luxembourg, Switzerland, United Kingdom, and France, are selected to explore green practices and involve technological advancements as enablers to go for the green. Further, the green models and practices are analyzed to know the contribution of each practice to each indicator of EPI. After that, the EPI improvement score is identified with the descriptive research design. The scope of the research is confined to measuring the 2020 EPI index V/s last ten years' longitudinal data series-driven baseline index. Published data sources are used to get insights into the EPI framework and score. Finally, the impact analysis establishes the relationship between green practice and % improvement in EPI score. The study's findings reveal innovative green business models and processes as best practices to improve environmental performance.
