Electroactive polymers (EAPs) have the best of both worlds, the processability and ease of synthesis of polymeric materials and they respond to an electrical stimulus. These materials have proved to be useful in many fields, such as traditional energy storage applications, sensors, and the biomedical field, with drug delivery, artificial muscles, and tissue engineering applications. In this chapter, several classes of EAPs will briefly be presented. In addition, some of their key properties will be discussed, and how these properties lead to so many applications.
