Abstract

The purpose of the current chapter is twofold. First, it provides a brief historical overview of the development of the field of Maintenance Human Factors (MHF) in aviation. Second, this chapter provides an in-depth discussion of Human Factors (HF), in general, the human performance (error) models used by the industry in its MHF journey, and the types of MHF programs/processes that are now available for all segments of the aviation industry, including maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) organizations.
