ABSTRACT

Induction heating (IH) is a multiphysical phenomenon comprising a complex interaction of electromagnetic, heat transfer, metallurgical phenomena, and circuit analysis that are tightly interrelated and highly nonlinear because the physical properties of materials depend on magnetic field intensity, temperature, and microstructure. Metallurgical/microstructural specifics of induction thermal processing are reviewed in Chapter 4. This chapter focuses on the electromagnetic and heat transfer phenomena, process simulations, and some other related aspects.
