ABSTRACT

The article highlights the concept of integrated water resources management; its basic functions; and linkages among functions, challenges, and implementation strategies in river basins, as well as also a way forward toward its implementation. A numerical conjunctive use model for management of surface and groundwater on line to the managed aquifer recharge, together with aquifer storage recovery, was also presented. Performance of the model was also demonstrated by an illustrated example. The derived model can be integrated into the Integrated Water Resources Management strategy as a tool.
