ABSTRACT
The role of technology is viewed today as the avenue to all “progress,” especially in economic affairs. Since the Industrial Revolution, the combination of human and machine creates the products as output, but without new technology, continual gains in productivity are nullified. Without increases in productivity, an ever-higher standard of living is but a fond imagining.
