ABSTRACT

It is established fact that food is a prime necessity for human beings. The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) reported in 2015 that 794.6 million people were undernourished in the world in 2014–2016, which is 10.9% of the world population (https://www.w3.org/1999/xlink). Hence, agricultural production is required to increase to provide food security to people. It is predicted that, in the next 25 years, about 50% increase in food production will be needed in developing countries to meet population growth. An alternative solution to this problem is to minimize food loss (Prakash, ). Food production losses happen mainly at three different stages, namely, harvest, post-harvest and marketing.
