ABSTRACT

Wind energy is a clean and renewable energy source that has been used in agriculture for centuries. The origins of harnessing wind as energy began over 3000 years ago with the invention of the windmill. Windmills were the only mechanical energy sources that drove equipment and tools in many farms until the beginning of the 20th century. The main tasks of classical windmills were to produce grain, prepare feed and pump water at the farms. Windmills have functioned as electric power generators since the late 19th century, mainly for pumping water.
