Abstract

In this chapter, we make a case for how the implementation of the Six Sigma Process Improvement Methodology may result in the achievement of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award for companies. Our approach is focused on integrating the Six Sigma Process Improvement Methodology implementation[Sundar2] within the Baldrige model. While the Baldrige model constitutes the overarching perspective of overall quality of a firm, implementing Six Sigma helps firms to achieve the requirements of the Baldrige criteria. In that regard, Six Sigma and the Baldrige model are complementary. It is expected that firms need to implement both the Baldrige model and Six Sigma to achieve higher levels of quality and performance.
