ABSTRACT

This chapter focusses on a particular type of project or program of work: recovering from a natural disaster. We acknowledge that similar conclusions, about the need for and manner of integrated project delivery (IPD) engagement, may be drawn from other types of disaster recovery, from war or civil conflict, industrial accidents and the financial failure of a country or region. However, we concentrate on natural-disaster recovery because this opens up the opportunity to more fully explore how community may take an active role in disaster recovery projects and programs.
