ABSTRACT
The response of society to disability, from the legal, educational, and care point of view has undergone an enormous transformation throughout history. There have been some common elements to this in various countries that, in general, are based on common beliefs, values, culture, and social and economic conditions. Nevertheless, the specific shapes that these responses have taken within countries have led to some unique aspects, peculiarities that make our broader common perspective richer.
