A short history of disability aspects from Israel

Disability studies have since the 1980s evolved into an interdisciplinary field, where scholars think about disability not as an isolated or individual medical pathology or issue, but instead as a key defining social category on par with race, class and gender (Kudlick, 2003). In this chapter we will try and give a snapshot of some of the disability history from the Middle East region, but with a major focus on Israel.
