ABSTRACT

Today, digital signal processors (DSPs) are widely used in many areas, such as aerospace, communication, automatic vehicles, power systems, etc. DSPs have superior abilities in terms of automatic control and signal process. One of the advantages is that DSPs can handle complex control algorithms. In this chapter, the description for controlling DSPs in power electronics applications are based on the case of 32-bit TMS320X28xxx series DSPs (Texas Instruments) which provide advanced capabilities, processing a 32 × 32 bits multiplication or two 16 × 16 bits multiplication within one clock period. With the help of the short interrupt response time, 28xxx DSPs can protect key registers in time and accurately respond to asynchronous events.
