ABSTRACT

Due to its capacity and operating characteristics, fuel cells normally work together with other alternative sources, for instance, the wind and solar. Several main issues including system configuration design, control methods, and power-conditioning system design need to be considered. Hybrid renewable energy power systems (HREPS) combine two or more energy conversion devices, or two or more fuels for the same device, that when integrated, overcome limitations inherent in either of them. Characteristics of distributed energy resources are (1) normally located at or near the point of use; (2) locational value; and (3) distribution voltage [1].
