ABSTRACT

Owing to these multiple advantages of PEMFCs mentioned in Chapter 1, the PEMFCs become popular for an alternative power source in transportation and stationary power systems. First of all, in order to commercialize the PEMFC, the cost and the efficiency need to be taken into account simultaneously. So, an optimal PEMFCs system design considering cost and efficiency of PEMFCs together has become a hot topic in recent years. For stationary and transportation applications, the efficiency of fuel cells is required to achieve higher or equal to 40% comparing the internal combustion engine [1].
