ABSTRACT

This chapter provides an overview of marker-assisted breeding (MAB) for disease resistance in legume vegetable crops. Basic concepts of resistance breeding have been elaborated for the easy understanding of the readers. Moreover, this chapter will shed light on the role of MAB to supplement the conventional breeding approaches. Finally, comprehensive information has been provided to the readers about the progress made in MAB along with the identified QTLs for disease resistance in economically important leguminous vegetable crops: pea, French bean, cowpea, and cluster bean.
