ABSTRACT
Cancer is the second-most lethal human disease following heart disease. In the United States, one in every four deaths is due to cancer. 1 Currently, the three primary cancer treatment techniques are surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Radiotherapy is a non-invasive treatment technique that uses ionization-induced damage to kill tumors. Approximately 50% of cancer patients will receive radiotherapy during their treatment courses.
