ABSTRACT

Storage is used in just about every industry that operates today. In all aspects of commerce, storage is used throughout the value chain to balance supply and demand and to buffer the upstream supply from the fluctuations in downstream demand. This is true of commodities like wheat and corn, of fuels like oil and gas, and of consumer products. However, this basic component of everyday processes in every industry does not exist in the electricity industry. There is no warehouse, silo, or tank for electricity.
