The Semantic Web, as an interdisciplinary research field, arose out of the desire to enhance the World Wide Web in such a way that interoperability and integration of multiauthored, multithematic, and multiperspective information and services could be realized seamlessly and on-the-fly [8,14]. Thus, the Semantic Web is concerned with developing methods for information creation, annotation, retrieval, reuse, and integration. It draws from many disciplines, including knowledge representation and reasoning in artificial intelligence, databases, machine learning, natural language processing, software engineering, information visualization, and knowledge management [39,40].
