Abstract

In software engineering, service-oriented development, or service-oriented development of applications (SODA), is a process and activity of developing applications and systems based on service-oriented architectures (SOA). The concept of SOA has received significant attention in the software architecture and development field since the early twenty-first century. SOA is a type of software architecture based on using services available on a network. The fundamental building blocks of the system are services. Services are commonly viewed as self-contained software application modules exposed through interfaces over a distributed environment. The consumers of these services are not end users but rather software applications.
