In the last years, wireless networks have become an interesting opportunity for industrial communication systems [1,2] thanks to the indubitable benefits they can bring. Indeed, introducing wireless communications in industrial environments is particularly appealing since, in principle, it increases system flexibility by reducing setup times and costs. Also, it avoids (or, at least, limits) cabling, which turns out to be cumbersome and/or expensive in many real cases. To this regard, it may be observed, for instance, that reliability as well as availability problems could arise with cables used to connect moving parts, as a consequence of mechanical stress and/or attrition.
