The development of imaging systems has been an important branch in the advancement of sensors and sensing technology. It represents the full-scale integration of mathematical analysis, physical modeling, hardware and software implementation, image visualization and display, and computer–human interactions. Its direct applications play a vital role in the industry, and its basic research components have been critical to graduate engineering education. The purpose of this chapter is to provide a comprehensive overview of five imaging systems as examples of the development and optimization of the imaging technology.
