Abstract

Geometric design deals with the details of the alignment of roads, such as the gradients and horizontal curve radii. It is carried out to ensure the safe, smooth flow of traffic. Consideration is also paid to the fast, efficient, economical movement of vehicles, although for public projects, accurately quantifying the savings due to good geometric design gets a little tricky.
