ABSTRACT
The high sulfur, nitrogen, and metal content (and the accompanying high viscosity) in petroleum cause expensive processing problems in the renery. Conventional technology does not exist to economically remove these contaminants from crude oil, so the problem is left for the reners to handle downstream at a high cost.
