Petroleum rening has entered a signicant transition period as the industry moved into the 21st century, as the demands for petroleum products, particularly transportation fuels, have shown a sharp growth in recent years. Renery operations have evolved to include a range of next-generation processes as the acceptance by reneries of heavy feedstocks became the norm.
