ABSTRACT

Winter squash and pumpkin are used as food or feed purposes. Both mature and immature fruits are the most important edible plant parts, although for some species seeds, owers, roots, and even leaves are consumed (Rubatzky and Yamaguchi 1997). They are important components of traditional medicines (Caili et al. 2006). Moreover, edible and industrial oils can be extracted from the seeds (Bavec and Bavec 2007).
