Abstract

As discussed in the opening chapter, GIS is no longer the domain of the scientific user. In all its many forms, Online GIS is now literally in the hands of the user and is available on demand to solve an unimaginable number of location based problems. In this chapter, we discuss some of the challenges that need to be considered by organisations and individuals seeking to make geographic information available over the Internet.
