Abstract

Check dematerialization is a comprehensive overhaul of the payment cycle from check processing to the calculation of cash flow and float values. This is why it took several decades of sustained effort to replace paper checks with their electronic images. To understand the scale of the change, the classical treatment of paper-based checks is summarized in the first section of this chapter.
