ABSTRACT
A tunnel design has to cover the following elements: (a) geometry of alignment, (b) tunnel profile or cross-section, (c) design of supports and lining and (d) design of transition (applicable to water conveyance tunnels). Geometry of alignment includes the following: (i) elevation or level, (ii) gradient and (iii) curvature.
