ABSTRACT
Survey and setting out of the tunnel alignment at the time of construction constitutes a critical phase in the construction of a tunnel. IS: 5878 (Part I) lays down the Code of practice in respect of ‘Precision Survey and Setting Out’. Setting out has to be done precisely, as later correction of any error caused at this stage will either be impossible or prove prohibitively costly.
