ABSTRACT

Workers are often faced with hazards that cannot be removed, mitigated, or controlled in some fashion. When this transpires, then steps must be taken to reduce risk, dangers, and hazards. The remaining solution can often be the one of last resort. This why personal protective equipment (PPE) is often used to decrease exposures and provide a semblance of protection and prevention for workers. PPE is not a new concept since suits of armor were used by warriors to prevent injury and death and animal bladders were used by miners exposed to mining products and dust.
