ABSTRACT
The initial presence of wild pigs (Sus scrofa) in southeastern North America dates to the early European exploratory period of North America, and their existence in this region has continued through the present (Mayer and Brisbin 2008, 2009). These persistent populations represent some of the oldest continually existing introduced pigs in the continental United States.
