ABSTRACT

The genus Bacillus covers a very large group of gram-positive, rod-shaped bacteria capable of producing oval endospores under stressful environmental conditions, which are spore-like, dormant, tough, nonreproductive structures, with strong resistance to heat, cold, radiation, desiccation, and disinfectants.
