Abstract

In this chapter, the latest developments in the field of spontaneous RNA synthesis under plausibly prebiotic reaction conditions are reviewed and perspectives are given for where these results might lead in the greater context of astrobiology. But first, it introduces the reader to the general aspects of the research of origins, the copying and encoding of digital information, and the compartmentation of memory carriers.
