ABSTRACT
The land of Israel/Palestine is not just the homeland of two peoples locked in conflict. It is also considered holy by several monotheistic traditions tracing their origins back to the patriarch Abraham/Ibrahim. This overlay of national identities and religious affiliations creates a potentially explosive mixture, especially when either identity marker becomes ideologized and rendered absolute, inviolable, and essential to one’s very existence.
