ABSTRACT
This chapter explores the working of the Basel Convention during the past two decades and the extent to which it has been able to resolve the problems associated with the ever increasing generation and unsound management of hazardous wastes. To this end, it probes the relevance of this instrument for a developing economy like Bangladesh. It concludes with an examination of what needs to be done to ensure that the Basel Convention objectives are fulfi lled now and in the future.
