ABSTRACT
This chapter considers the implementation of international environmental law in Australia and New Zealand. It examines the legal and regulatory frameworks that have developed in response to some of the most infl uential, complex and challenging international environmental issues, including ecologically sustainable development, biodiversity and climate change. It therefore highlights and provides a succinct overview of some of the fundamental and recent developments in mainstream environmental law in Australia and New Zealand engendered by international environmental law.
